Due to the poor standard of education within the community at that time, SOS Children's Villages started the construction of an SOS Hermann Gmeiner Primary School in Bo in 1984 which has been in operation since 30 September 1985.

The facility includes, 9 classrooms (6 primary and 3 secondary school classes), 7 special classes for dress making/textile work, physics/chemistry lessons, library, typewriting, home economics/catering, special education lessons and school canteen room; an administration and service area, open rondavel, 3 staff houses and playground. It has an overall enrolment of 322 students of which 80 are SOS Children/Youths while the others are from the community.
