Vocational Training and Production Centre / Printing Press
The SOS Vocational Training and Production Centre (VTC) / Printing PressThe VTC is situated within the SOS Complex at Lumley, on the outskirts of the capital city. It was officially opened on 8 September 1985, as a Production Center. The center comprises 3 buildings with workshops/offices, a class room for the departments: computer-based design, silk-screen printing, lithography, offset printing and letterpress machine printing, and a staff house for the center's director. It has a capacity of 15 trainees.

In 1987, the first set of trainees were enrolled for an 18-month certificate course in Printing Technology. Two years later, a two colour Offset Litho" was installed which gave a greater flexibility in the type of work to be produced. The VTC also has another printing process known as the silk screen which allows for the printing of badges, T-shirts, stickers, flags etc.

The VTC was closed down from 1997 to the end of 2000 due to the prevailing political  instability and rebel incursions.

At the start of 2001, the VTC was again opened and managed to function once more as a production center. In addition to the project director, the VTC  now has 16 full-time personnel. These include lecturers, administrative, production,  and ancillary staff. The training program is opened to both SOS youths as well as youths from the community of either gender. The course is designed to give a good theoretical  knowledge of printing but is heavily weighed to give more practical experience, which is essential if the person is to secure a job upon completion of the course.

Presently, eight students are enrolled for the course, five in their second term and three in their first term.

The VTC Printing Technology Certificates are highly regarded within the country. As a result, each student who has obtained one of these certificates has been able to secure a permanent job.
