The SOS Children's Village |
|
The construction of the SOS Children's Village in Freetown started in 1973. In August 1974, construction work was completed and the Gmeiner. The first 45 children to enter the village came from a country. Today, there are 13 family houses with a capacity for 130 children, an administration and service area, a home for retired SOS 2 guest houses, 2 youth workshops, and a playground.
The children in the village are of different age groups and are living with their SOS mothers in the family houses. The Village Director as a father figure is responsible for guiding and directing both the SOS mothers and children. He provides security, builds trust and shows love to the children as any other father would.
