SOS Children's Village

The SOS Children's Village Bakoteh, located 15 km from capital Banjul, was founded in 1982. Initially, the village started with 6 family houses, but today, there are 10 family houses, 2 transit houses for orphaned and abandoned babies, a small administration, a guest house and an accomodation for the village director. Almost 100 children of different age groups live with their SOS mothers in the family houses in Bakoteh.

The SOS Children's Village is the overall responsibility of the village director. Reponsible for guiding and directing both SOS mothers and children, the village director builds trust, provides security and shows love to the children.
