The deceased Hermann founding Gmeiner of Infantile Villages SOS, was born in Austria in 1919. Son of Agricultural Family, being the father agriculturist, lost the mother when he was still young. After the Second World War I, he studied medicine in the University of Innsbruck. Comovido with the situation of thousand of children without shelter, poor persons, orphans, after the Second World War I, Herman Gmeiner constructed, with the aid of friends, first Infantile Village SOS, in Imst-Tyrol, Austria, in 1949.Continuou to help to the children orphans and poor persons for the world are and to divulge philosophy SOS, until its death, in 1986. This work continues nowadays under the guardianship of SOS KDI, through 1535 projectos spread for all the continents.
Infantile Village SOS of the Guiné Bissau was inaugurated in day 2 of June of 1995 for then the President of the Republic of the Guiné Bissau, Bernardine João Vieira, even so has started to function in 1994 in experimental regimen.
