SOS Kindergarten

SOS KindergartenThe SOS Kindergarten is an integral part of the SOS Children's Village.

The SOS Kindergarten Monrovia has been in operation since 1981. It has excellent educational facilities and well trained and dedicated educators. The Kindergarten includes, 4 classrooms, a classroom for Montessori education, Kitchen, a multipurpose hall and ancillary rooms. It has a capacity of about 100 pupils.

The management of SOS Children's Villages Liberia, has decided to give her children the best of education through the solid foundation of a kindergarten within her premises. The kindergarten was initially intended for the SOS children but it did not take long for the community to see the value of pre-education. Presently, the school caters for both SOS children as well as those from the community.

The SOS Kindergarten Monrovia like all other SOS schools, is non-denominational, supporting all faiths, co-educational and open to children between ages 3-6. It has five educators, and an SOS Kindergarten principal who is assisted by an assistant principal, educators' aids and a janitor.

The Kindergarten educators are well qualified and aim to stimulate the children through providing a wide range of learning experiences. The school has also adopted the idea of 'Maria Montessori' to promote independent learning in the kindergarten.

A toddlers' class has also been established and is open to the SOS children and the children in the community. The establishment of this class has been a big help to mothers and parents who now have ample time to do their household work while the kids are in school.

Due to the fact that many schools were damaged during the war and the hardship that the country is currently faced with, the SOS Kindergarten remains the best in the country and is very much appreciated.
