The SOS Children's Village in Conakry was inaugurated on the 16th May 1990 by General Lansana CONTE, President of the Republic of Guinea and Mr Helmut Kutin, President of SOS Kinderdorf International. It is situated 26 kilometres away from the city centre. It has accommodation capacity for 110 children and includes 11 Family Houses, a house for the Village father, one-multi purpose hall and play grounds. A Village Father who is responsible for both guiding and directing the SOS Mothers and Children heads the Village. He provides them with security, love, and self- confidence like any good father. As for the SOS Mother, she is responsible for the Family House and facilitates the harmonious development and well being of the Children.

A dispensary has been built within the compound of the SOS Children's Village in Conakry for minor and first treatments. For all other medical cases, the children are sent to specialists on the recommendation of the Medical Consultant of SOS Guinea. |

 The SOS Kindergarten in Conakry was inaugurated in September 1990; it is situated on the premises of the SOS Children's Village and equipped with school infrastructures. Teaching materials, playgrounds that are very convenient for children. It is attended by SOS Children as well as children from the neighbourhood. Its maximum seating capacity is 100 children. The educators use the Montessori, Fröbel and other indispensable friendly methods for the success of the children.

SOS Hermann Gmeiner Primary School Conakry |

 The SOS Hermann Gmeiner Primary School was inaugurated in September 1990. Like the Kindergarten, it is also on the premises of the SOS Children's Village. It has accommodation for 210 pupils in six classes with level ranging from one to six. Both resident and non-resident Children attend the School. The Children are taught the National Programme as established by the Ministry of Pre-University Education with some extra courses added by the School. Its motto is "The Sky is our limit".

 The Youth Home is located outside the SOS Children's Village at Sangoyah neighbourhood, in Matoto Commune, 500 metres away from transversal 4 (T4) on the East side. Adolescents receive not only education but also develop their potentials in order to help them grow into responsible citizens. Under the supervision of their leaders, SOS Youths manage their own domestic expenses. All SOS Youths do daily chores in a disciplined and regular manner.

The National Coordination Office is the Administrative Structure, which supervises and coordinates all SOS operations in Guinea. It is situated inside the SOS Children's Village in Conakry. This works in close collaboration with the Association of the SOS Children's Villages which offers its advice and facilities. |
